The Ekurhuleni Regional Innovation Networking Platform (ERINP) project is a partnership between the Regional Innovation Support Programme (RISP) and Gibela Business Incubator to support innovative township enterprises and innovators around Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality. It is envisaged that this project will benefit over 75 innovative township enterprises and innovators during its initial 12 month period. ERINP strongly believes in partnerships and envisage that various other stakeholders will be engaged to ensure the long-term sustainability of this Innovative Networking Platform. 

ERINP understand that innovative start-ups or new entrepreneurs bring with them new ideas to the eco-system that stimulate innovation and generate competition, which can have a fundamental impact on the overall economic productivity. It is further ERINP’s understanding that on a micro level, it is about enabling innovation and providing a network of support and stimulation to enhance innovation and entrepreneurial practices. In light of the above the aim and purpose of this project ( ERINP) is to contribute to the creation and support of an enabling innovative environment for innovative township enterprises and innovators.

GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE AND INSTITUTIONAL ARRANGEMENT

Steering Committee:

The strategic objectives of the platform cannot be determined in isolation. The term system implies that the various components, stakeholders and leadership structures together determine the strategic objectives for regional innovation. The project is govern by a Steering Committee, which compose of representatives from public and private sector representatives as well as a representative from the community and small business to assist ERINP achieve its strategic objectives.

In terms of financial control and management GBI implements effective, efficient and transparent financial management and internal control systems in compliance with the Public Finance and Management Act of 2001.
